Futura with optional ASP operation via Internet
In ASP configurations, all decentralized users access a central server (host). This server holds the company’s entire stock of data. The connection to the host is established using modern communication systems such as Internet, VPN, DSL, etc.
Only the screen contents are displayed and entries are made locally. The application, e.g. the POS program, is executed in the head office. The communication processes running between the program being executed centrally and the display on the local stations are controlled by proven and tested products such as Microsoft Terminal Server Client or Citrix ICA Clients.
Consequently, it is not necessary e.g. to install a complete PC in the branch. Locally, a Thin Client is sufficient with the minimum equipment required to dial into the remote server.
Futura with central data management and processing
ASP makes branch data immediately available to the head office; they are stored in a central database for all ASP branches. The branch-specific conditions, such as individual prices, are, of course, not altered. Overnight communication with the head office to exchange the latest data and setting this data up in the branches afterwards is not required. The parallized booking run in the head office allows fast data processing.
When new releases are issued, only the head office system is updated; time-consuming installation at the distributed locations (branches, notebooks) is no longer necessary.
As a result of the IP connection, it is also possible to link up IP-based EFT terminals (EFT = electronic fund transfer).
Futura ensures low running costs
Potential fields of application are companies with a head office/branch structure, hosting companies, remotely working staff and vertical structures, e.g. manufacturers who make simple dumb terminals available to their connected partners and supply “just in time” information for the ERP systems connected to FuturERS(TM) (e. g. BRAIN, Perdress, SAP AFS, Semiramis etc.).
Low acquisition and maintenance costs, high network availability, central data management, and low update times make the ASP model attractive for many fields of application.
